Signs it’s time to make a career change?

As we close out 2022, we are given time to reflect on our goals both personally and professionally.  One of the questions we are asked often by executive candidates is:  What are the signs I’ve grown stagnant and need to make a change.  Below are some general tips:

Lack of job satisfaction: If you find yourself consistently unhappy with your job, and no longer feel motivated or engaged in your work, it may be time to consider a career change.

Stagnation in your current role: If you feel like you have reached a dead-end in your current role, and there are no opportunities for growth or advancement, a career change may be in order.

Your values or interests have changed: Over time, your values or interests may change, and your current job may no longer align with them. If this is the case, it may be time to explore new career options that align with your values and interests.

Your current job is negatively impacting your well-being: Your job should not negatively affect your physical or mental well-being. If you find that your job is causing stress, burnout or other physical or mental health concerns, it may be time to consider a career change.

Your skills or experience are no longer relevant: If you feel that your skills or experience are no longer in demand or relevant in your current field, it may be time to consider a career change to stay current and relevant.

It’s important to remember that a career change can be a big decision and should not be taken lightly. Take the time to research and explore different options, and consider the financial and lifestyle impact of a career change before making a decision.
